Could the prison guard truly be Winston's mother? Sharing the last name Smith, the woman wonders..Can they truly be reunited once again after years of separation?
Winston is now imprisoned and is sharing a cell with several people. One in particular is his neighbour Mrs. Parsons who was thrown in for committing thought crimes. Soon after walks in O'Brien saying he was an operative of the Ministry of Love, and saying Winston knew about it all along that he was. It seems as if the Thought Police are "cracking" down all those against Big Brother and the end is near for them. O'Brien is now torturing Winston to the point where he makes him admit that he has four fingers up when he actually has 4 up.
O'Brien is convincing Winston that everything being endured is for the sake of himself and for the party. Personally I believe..with the right amount of torture it is possible to tell anyone to say anything you want..but getting them to fully respect that thought or even believe in it is a different thing. You can have anyone say anything just for the sake of ending the torture.

(+) You are on of the only people to offer up some of your own opinions rather than just giving a plot summary. Good job!
(+) Your conclusion brings up an interesting point (about the difference between torture and submission versus torture and respect)
(-) Too many rhetorical questions in the introduction, a weaker way to start a post
(-) Typo "Mrs. Parsons"--->should be: "Mr. Parsons"
I agree with Jessie. Finally someone who actually talks about what they feel about the book rather than just give us a regurgitation of everything we have already read.
Very good writing, I didn't find any other mistakes other than maybe instead of putting 4, actually write out "four"?
Awesome post though!
